Meet the Creators of KO Crafty

Hello and welcome! My name is Katie. I am a married mom of two wonderful girls. We also have two dogs, a rabbit and a cat: all girls! Yep, my husband is surrounded! But don't worry, he loves it!

I have always been crafty and have cycled through many hobbies. One that I have come back to time and time again has been crochet. A couple of years ago, I returned once more but this time with a vengeance. I went from making scarves, hats and blankets, to learning amigurumi, clothes and so much more.

The more I made, the more I heard that I should start a business. I knew that a crochet business was not going to replace my full-time income but I thought it would be fun to have a way to share my creations with others and maybe I could make enough to pay for more yarn! I decided to start a website and if I got some orders, great! If I didn't, no big deal. 

While setting everything up, I needed a logo. I was just going to find a free clipart style yarn ball and add my business name and call it good. Enter, my oldest daughter, Melody.

Melody is 11-years-old and has always been my little mini-me. She has the same humor, the same interests, and the same style. She is very creative and has amazing artistic talent that far exceeds my own.

When she found me fiddling with a logo, she asked me to send her what I had. I did and the next day she had a black and white logo with the yarn ball, a crochet hook, my business name and the cutest little creatures. I fell in love with it immediately. I added color to it and adopted it as the official logo of my newborn business. 

The logo was the start of another, bigger idea. What if my business was about more than just crochet? I had already determined that I could sell other crafts outside of crochet but this could go even beyond that. What if we created a whole world? A whole cast of adorable characters on shirts, bags, stickers and so much more. What if we created characters that people could fall in love with?

Melody and I quickly fell in love with this idea. It started with the original five animals and quickly started to grow. We gave them names, back stories, personalities and their very own graphics. And we've only just begun. Stick with us to see these little critters come to life. 

And who knows, one day maybe my youngest, Lotte will join us in our new little family business. Until then, she and her sister will remain the cutest models ever. You can find them snuggling plushies and showcasing handmade clothing on my website.
